Education and early life Tolman has two older siblings and a younger sibling. Early in her life, Tolman's family was relocated to England. They remained there until she was four years old. After that, she spent 5 years in Oklahoma before moving on to Sugar Land. When she was ten years old, she started acting at Fort Bend Community Theatre. She went to Clements High School, graduating in 2000. Baylor University awarded her a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in theatre performances. Fargo was a 1996 Coen Brothers film, starred Billy Bob Thornton (as Molly Solverson), Martin Freeman (as Bob Odenkirk) and Bob Odenkirk. Tolman was recognized for her role as Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair said that Tolman "calmly, assuredly stole" the show. Critics' Choice Television Award, Best Supporting Actress (Movie/Miniseries) and Golden Globe awards were announced to Tolman for her performance. Tolman's appearance in the film The Mindy Project, playing romance writer Abby Berman for two episodes, was announced the same. Tolman was a supporter in Michael Dougherty's horror comedy film Krampus.
